Player won’t face criminal charges in alleged assault

Former University of ­Oregon basketball player Brandon ­Austin will not face criminal charges for an alleged sexual ­assault at Providence College, the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office said Wednesday.


The attorney general’s office said in a news release that it determined that there was insufficient evidence for a statewide grand jury to consider charges against Austin.


The office presented evidence to a grand jury regarding Austin’s teammate and roommate, Rodney Bullock, who was ­accused of sexual assault in the same case. The grand jury said there was in­sufficient evidence to charge Bullock.
